Lorenza Gandaglia, Hand Made in Italy.

Each and every item, hand-crafted and designed by Lorenza.

The Lorenza Gandaglia (pronounced Ghan-dahl-ya) collection began in the mid-nineties with a small back pack.

It has now evolved into a full accessory line focusing on handbags with yearly collections for fall/winter and spring/summer.

Lorenza, being one of four sisters from a small family in northern Italy, learned the art of crochet from her grandmother.

Crochet, a traditional Italian weave, has been handed down from generation to generation. It is believed to be an artful yet practical technique evolved from net making that fisherman developed centuries ago.

Interestingly it became common to copy lace during the last century.

Lorenza recently mentioned: “Now I am drawing on many ideas and influences for muse and with this open approach I hope to keep the collection always fresh and forward. I was first inspiration when very young to hand made little purses for myself and all my sisters, later while attending business university I continued by making larger bags for presents. We Crocheted dolls completely accessorized and as we played we named them our favorite characters.”

"I started 10 years ago, with a little purse, made and sold door to door in Florence."

Lorenza Gandaglia did not attended a formal fashion design school.

Lorenza focuses very little attention to trends and markets, but has become a trend setter though the creation of her unique artisanal approach to fashion. From this she discovered that she was virtually alone in creating this fresh new look and that it was becoming increasingly well received.

One major theme in Lorenza’s collections is the soutash look. This material matrix is made by crocheting heavy threads (from Passamanerie) to create a solid mesh background or many times a stylish floral or geometric pattern will be inter woven in the finished piece.
